School counselors support students in grades 9-12 as they begin exploring interests, setting goals, and developing plans for life after high school
The NHS School Counseling Department supports the national standards set by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and the Massachusetts Model for School Counseling. Our goal is to promote academic, career, and personal/social development for all students, while providing comprehensive post-secondary planning support.
Counseling services are delivered to students in grades 9–12 through a combination of classroom-based lessons, individual counseling sessions, and group activities.
At each grade level, counselors provide transition support to help students successfully navigate the next phase of their academic journey. Students are encouraged to explore their interests, strengths, and goals as they begin planning for life after high school.
At the high school level, students work closely with counselors using SchooLinks, a college and career readiness platform, to explore post-secondary pathways. In addition, the Counseling Department offers parent information sessions throughout the year focused on college planning, career exploration, and financial aid.
