The Work Experience Program at the Newburyport High School provides opportunities for students to explore career options and/or to gain work experience.
This course is available to seniors in good standing. Underclassmen in special or extenuating circumstances may also be admitted.
Students are required to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Students enrolled in this program will be allowed to leave school grounds during their work experience block.
Academic credit is contingent upon submission of weekly timesheets, regular attendance on the job, and workplace evaluations from their respective supervisor/mentor.
To apply for this program, students must contact their school counselor when registering for their courses.
Note: Work Experience students are not eligible for honors and high honors unless they are enrolled in 13 semester courses for the school year.
