Over 200 Virtual High School courses are available for NHS students to venture into the world of on-line education. Newburyport High School has joined the Concord Consortium of Virtual High School, offering courses that are taught by certified high school teachers across the country, in a wide variety of disciplines and levels. Virtual High School will broaden the opportunities for students at Newburyport High School to include such course offerings as: World Conflict: A United Nations Introduction, Cultural Identity through Literature: Understanding Place, Calculus for Business, Sports and American Society, , Lewis and Clark’s Expedition: An Interactive Journey, Criminology, and International Business: An Exploration, and Animal Behavior and Zoology. All of the core courses are NCAA accredited. For a full listing with descriptions of courses offered, visit www.govhs.org and click on VHS Catalog at the left of the screen. These courses are open to juniors and seniors.
- Students can not take a VHS course that is currently being offered at NHS.
- Students can not take a VHS course which is at an AP level without permission from the Principal.
- Students must complete a VHS Course Contract at the VHS meeting.
