Level IV H language class relies on a thematic, skills-based curriculum in the target language. The class is conducted in the target language 90% of the time, and students are expected to achieve an intermediate-high/low level in interpersonal, interpretive and presentational modes in the four domains-speaking, listening, reading and writing. An intermediate-high/low language learner can communicate with ease and confidence on familiar and unfamiliar topics; narrate and describe in all major time frames; understand the main idea and some supporting details or follow the storyline of a fluent speaker; seek clarification; and regularly apply circumlocution strategies. Instructors use authentic resources to deliver instruction. Common, performance-based assessments and self- assessments are used to evaluate the learning outcomes of each student.
