PREREQUISITE: Department Approval. (Students must have completed a minimum of both Algebra I and Geometry at any level)


This course focuses on the mathematics used in the finances of everyday life. Topics will include (but are not limited to): financial decision making, analyzing pay stubs (net pay vs. gross pay), payroll and pretax deductions (including: taxes, Health Insurance, Retirement, & Savings), Banking, Credit (credit history & scores, credit cards, & loans), Major Expenditures (education, auto, housing), and Budgeting (Income and expenses & spending plans). Being a knowledgeable consumer requires an understanding of the mathematics behind every day financial transactions.


Please note that Senior students will be given scheduling priority for this class.
