PREREQUISITES: Successful completion of Algebra I is strongly recommended for enrollment in CP1 Chemistry

CP1 Chemistry is a two semester laboratory course. The science of chemistry develops problem solving techniques and critical thinking skills of the student. Laboratory experiments and other student centered activities are used to deepen understanding. Topics include: Matter, The Atom, The Periodic Table, Chemical Nomenclature, Bonding, Types of Reactions, Stoichiometry and the Mole, States of Matter & the Gas Laws, Energy Transfer, Solutions, Acids & Bases, and Rates of Reactions. This course is designed to prepare students for chemistry in college.
