Chorus is an exciting and dynamic class designed for students of all experience levels, with no prior singing experience required. Meeting after school once a week from 2:45 to 4:15 PM, this class provides an opportunity for students to develop strong vocal techniques, build ensemble skills, and collaborate with peers to create powerful, harmonious performances. Students will explore a variety of musical genres, including contemporary hits, classic standards, musical theatre, and modern compositions. Throughout the semester, students will work both acapella and with accompaniment provided by fellow music department members, enhancing their ability to blend with others and develop their individual voice. Key components of the class include:

● Vocal Technique: Students will learn fundamental singing skills, including breath control, pitch accuracy, vocal projection, and proper diction.

Ensemble Building & Teamwork: Working together as a group, students will learn how to harmonize, listen to each other, and develop strong ensemble dynamics.

● Performance Mastery: Emphasis is placed on stage presence, confidence, and emotional connection to the music, preparing students for public performances and school events.

● Collaboration: Students will have opportunities to collaborate with instrumentalists, making music-making a team effort that highlights the strengths of each performer.

In addition to group work, students will have the opportunity to audition for Massachusetts Music Educators Association Northeastern Districts Festival, showcasing their growth and talent at a competitive level. If chosen for Northeastern Districts, you may receive an invitation to audition for All-State, and with further success, you could be selected for All-Eastern or even National Choirs, opening doors to prestigious musical opportunities. For those interested in solo performance, recital preparation is offered during session 2, where students can refine and present a solo piece to the class. This class provides a welcoming and supportive environment where students can grow as musicians, build lasting friendships, and develop a love for music that extends beyond the classroom. Course may be repeated for credit.
