PREREQUISITES: Must have successfully completed biology.
This unique hands on course will include two major science focus areas, horticulture and aquaculture combined into an aquaponics course. Horticulture component will cover the science of cultivating fruits, vegetables, flowers, and ornamental plants. The aquaculture component of the course will cover topics such as natural history, anatomy, environmental requirements, reproduction and culture techniques for common fish species used in aquaponics. Other topics include fish hatchery management for recreational fisheries, conservation aquaculture (restoration of species at risk) and small business in aquaculture, aquaponics and horticulture.
