Students are required to take the Advanced Placement Exam given by the College Board in May and must pay any requisite costs for the exam.
PREREQUISITES: Students must earn a grade of B in Honors Chemistry or a grade of A in CP1 Chemistry. They must also have a grade of B+ or better in Honors Algebra II and Honors Pre-calculus. In addition, a teacher recommendation is required.
AP Chemistry is an advanced course for students considering college majors in science or engineering. The AP Syllabus which includes 6 Big Ideas and rigorous lab work, has been approved by the College Board. This course is for students who excelled in Honors chemistry, and want to study chemistry in greater depth. A significant amount of learning in the AP course will be through independent problem solving and lab data analysis.
