This is a one-semester course that commences with a comparative study of world religions and then traces the growth of the Nation State in Europe through the French Revolution. Topics will include: Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam; the European nation states; absolutism; the English Civil War; the Enlightenment; and the French Revolution.
