*Credits Beyond the School Day Option

Students join the Creative Writing class to read and/or listen to original poetry and short prose pieces from guest speakers. Students are encouraged to participate in discussion and to participate in the Favorite Poem Project as well as Poetry Out Loud. (Course is for 1 Credit)

Participation occurs beyond the academic day on eleven Wednesday evenings throughout the year. Students join the Creative Writing at Night class to read and/or listen to original poetry and short prose pieces. One guest speaker is featured at each event. The guest speaker reads from his/her published works or work-in-progress, and engages students in discussion about the writing process. Guest speakers include professionals from institutions such as Salem State University and Brandeis University, as well as local celebrated poets, and slam poets from the Boston/Cambridge area. Students also are encouraged to participate in the Favorite Poem Project and Poetry Out Loud. (Credit is given for full attendance or just come when you can for the sheer joy of it!)
