Welcome to Newburyport High School!
Situated in the historic New England seaside city of Newburyport, NHS is the port where tradition and innovation converge.
Our 800 students engage in rigorous academics and expansive extracurriculars to ensure they have the skills to contribute to a rapidly changing world.
Our goal is to support all our students in an engaging, rigorous, and fun high school experience. NHS offers a range of coursework, clubs, and activities, so every student can find their own path.

Hello Clipper Families
| First, I'd like to commend our 10th and 11th graders for perservering through last week's PSAT. Score reports should be available to families in approximately 6 weeks. I'd also like to note the enthusiastic participation of our freshmen class on PSAT Day as they engaged in Proejct-Based Learning activities with the wellness team and Gr. 9 teachers while also engaging with their counselors and motivational speaker, Kevin Mecchella on decision-making and personal growth. | |

Last week we held our first school rally of the year. Tom Rich and Logan MacKnight, President and Vice-President of our Student Council, served as the emcees, while our student section fan leaders; Blaire Fox, Luke MacIsaac, and Henry Waddell, energized the student body. Our band and cheerleaders added to the spirit of the |

event, while our sports captains and performing arts student leaders spoke about their programs and highlighted the involvement of our underclassmen. Finally, our choral trio of Nora Baker, Lilly Curtis, and Bay Schumacher continued to impress us all with their impressive harmony, and I can't close without noting our faculty remains undefeated in the tug-of-war. First and foremost, I want to commend our senior class officers and advisors, Ms. Cochran and Ms. Martin, for all of the work that went into last week’s Homecoming. The event was definitely lively and provided a great way to close out our first full week of school.

Last Friday, as our nation marked the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, members of our NHS community came together in a number of meaningful ways to remember the lives that were lost and those whose lives that were forever changed

It has been great to have our students and staff back in school. Over the first 2 days, students met with each of their teachers, took school pictures, and participated in grade level assemblies. Overall, I was impressed by the energy of our students and I'm looking forward to upcoming activities that will be happening throughout the fall.
Below, I have provided a link to the school picture information, as well as the student assembly presentation, for your reference. A main theme for us here at NHS continues to be developing a “growth mindset” and supporting students as they work to develop their own story.
