Hello Clipper Families

This is Andy Wulf, Principal of Newburyport High School. On Wednesday, December 3rd, we will hold our Showcase Night. This is an opportunity for middle school families to tour Newburyport High School, talk with our teachers and students, and see everything we have to offer. The event will take place from 6:00 – 7:30 PM and is structured as an open house. Tours will be given by our students throughout the evening, and our faculty will be in our first-floor spaces to answer questions about our academic and extracurricular offerings. Please see the flyer below for other information about the event, and as always, we encourage the whole family to come.

Hello Clipper Families

One of our goals at NHS is for every student to graduate with a flexible post-secondary plan. To support this, students and families will use two key programs described below. Please take a moment to create a parent account for both, as these tools will help your student explore and develop their plans for life after high school. If you have any questions about either platform, please reach out to your student’s guidance counselor.

Hello Clipper Families

First, thank you to everyone who donated games for students to use during lunch. This year, we implemented our new cell phone policy based on feedback from the community-wide dialogue held last spring. Under the policy, students are not allowed to access their phones during the school day, except at lunch. As we work to coach students in regulating their phone use, the donated games have helped promote meaningful interaction at the tables.

Hello Clipper Families

The main objective of tonight's message is to highlight our Advisory Block, which we refer to as the Onward Block. As you scroll through the newsletter, you’ll find an overview of the activities your students have recently engaged in. The Onward Block is designed to help students connect their learning to our Portrait of a Graduate while reflecting on their future plans after high school. Further down the message, you will find some helpful conversation starters you can use with your student to deepen that reflection at home.

Hello Clipper Families

Over the first two weeks of school, it’s been exciting to see students and faculty building strong learning communities both in and out of the classroom. I want to commend our students for adapting well to the new cell phone policy. While there have been a few referrals and interventions, overall the student body has responded positively to this change.
