4 NHS students were chosen to perform in the Massachusetts Music Educators’ Association-Northeastern District (MMEA-ND) Senior Festival band and chorus.

Sophomore Nora Baker, Juniors Nathan Lagueux and Lucas Ting, and Senior Joshua Kim, were 4 out of over 960 students who auditioned for the MMEA-ND Senior Festival band and chorus. Ting auditioned for the band, and Baker, Lagueux and Kim auditioned for the chorus. The three singers will not only be in the MMEA-ND Senior Festival chorus, but they also have the opportunity to audition for the all-state chorus. Both singers and instrumentalists have to prepare a solo piece and memorized scales for their audition, and singers must also demonstrate the ability to vocally sight read sheet music with only 45 seconds to practice. All four students performed well in their auditions, and secured their spots in the Senior Festival band and chorus.

We’re so proud of our students for this huge accomplishment, and we can’t wait to see them perform! See below for more information on performances.

Northeastern District Senior Festival Band and Chorus: January 10, at Arlington High School.
All-state chorus: March, (date TBD) at Boston’s Symphony Hall.
